The major area of Gujmer
consumption : a) To manufacture
sheets, pipes, rods, tubes and dental prosthesis through
casting (Homopolymerisation) process.
b) For embedding of Novelties, Decorative items, Biological
and histological preparation and Wood impregnation for its
preservation.
Gujmer finds outlets while
preparing : a) Partially polymerized
solution with Tarnish inhibitor which is used as coating on
polished copper
and brass idols/ memento and gift items.
b) Adhesive and gloss agent for paints, fabric colours and
printing inks.
c) Lacquers, Enamels, Paints, Varnishes, Adhesives and Water
proofing agents.
d) Solution polymer for Acrylic copolymer coating recipes.
e) Glazing materials of paper and tanning of hides (raw
leather).
f) Textile Auxiliaries and sizing materials.
g) Flow modifiers and impact modifier for PVC.
h) Polymer concrete and polymer impregnated concrete.
i) Floor polishes and polish ingredients.
j) Additive for lubricating and industrial oils.
Gujmer is also widely used to prepare copolymer or
terpolymer resins as emulsions or solutions, using Butyl or
Ethyl and Vinyl monomers for various applications. Aqueous
dispersion emulsion of Gujmer and Butyl Acrylate finds its
application as - A Binder for Webs including PP fibre and
finishing agent for washable soft finishes. Homopolymer of Gujmer, in solution (solvents : MEK, Acetone,
Toluene, Methylene Chloride) is preferred as top finishing
agent for PVC leatherette, coated fabrics, air inflated
tents and roofing, wall paper, table cloth, etc and as
bonding agent for glass threads.
Gujmer co polymerizes with different unsaturated monomers
giving product with desired properties for variety of
applications, Viz : (i) Copolymer is
Gujmer, Ethyl Acrylate and Vinylmethyl methacrylate is used
as binder in printing links and as bonding agent for glass
threads and PVC leatherette.
(ii) Copolymer of Gujmer, and Butyl methacrylate in solution
is used as binder in printing inks and spray paints.
Graft polymers prepared using Gujmer have very specific
applications, to name a few :
(i) MBS is used in Rigid PVC as impact modifier.
(ii) A terpolymer (MABS) is used as tough, transparent, high
impact resistant material.
(iii) Graft polymers of polymethacrylate finds applications
as an additive to multipurpose lube oil.
Besides, Gujmer is having good potential in manufacture of
many bulk and fine chemicals, the list of which is endless.
